Acro and tumbling in West Fargo
Brise is an acro and tumbling studio for ages 5 to 16. Every skill has a name, a mat and a coach beside it.

A level is a skill, not an age and not a month. A student moves up when the skill is steady and the coach no longer needs to spot it.
Forward roll and backward roll on the mat
Bridge, pushing up from the floor
Shoulder stand against the wall
The coach moves a student up when each roll is smooth and the bridge holds without a spot. Ask at any class.
Cartwheel along a line, on both sides
Lunge and arm shapes that start a cartwheel
Handstand against the wall
A student moves up when the cartwheel is steady on both sides without the line.
Kick up to handstand with a spotter
Handstand hold away from the wall
Coming down with a roll or a cartwheel exit
A student moves up when the hold is steady and the coach no longer needs to spot the kick up.
Bridge kickover
Front walkover
Back walkover with a spotter
A student moves up when both walkovers are steady and the coach has stopped spotting them.
Round-off from a run
Back handspring on a spot-block with a spotter
Linking two skills into a short pass
There is no level above this one. Students stay as long as they like and build longer passes.
Sample levels.
Every skill we teach, with the level it belongs to.
Hands down, chin tucked, one smooth roll along the mat.
Hands by the ears, pushing through the mat to come over.
Pushing up from the floor onto hands and feet.
Along a line, then on both sides, then without the line.
Kicking up beside a wall until the shape is familiar.
Kicked up with a spotter, then held on your own.
Rocking out of a bridge with one leg lifted.
From standing, through a handstand shape, to standing again.
Reaching back into a bridge and walking over, with a spotter.
A run, a hurdle and a turn that lands facing the way you came.
On a spot-block first, with a spotter until the coach says otherwise.
Two or three skills linked in a row across the floor.

Every skill is practiced on a mat sized to the skill, and the mats are laid out before the first student arrives.
A coach stands beside a student for any new skill and spots by hand, then spots less as the skill steadies.
Each class starts with a game, wrist and shoulder prep and a few holds, and ends with a cool-down.
Students tell a coach about any pain, and we stop that skill for the day. Tell us about injuries before the first class; we ask privately once you register, never on the website form.

Three coaches lead every class at Brise.

Owner and head coach
Maci opened Brise after coaching tumbling in West Fargo for years. She leads the youngest classes and the round-off level, and she is the coach a family meets at the door on Saturday mornings.

Cartwheels and handstands
Kane teaches the cartwheel and handstand levels and the older round-off class. He spots from the first kick up and says out loud what his hands are doing.

Walkovers and acro for dancers
Miyuki trained as a dancer and teaches the walkover level and the acro for dancers classes, where tumbling meets the dance floor.

“My daughter wanted a cartwheel and nobody hurried her. The coach kept a hand beside her until she was ready to let go, and that was on her schedule.”
“I liked that every skill has a name and a level. When my son asked what came next, the coach could point to it on the wall.”
“Watch week was the first time I saw how a class runs. The mats, the spotting and the warm-up are all things I had only heard about.”
